Boy, 3, dies after ‘finding family member’s gun and shooting himself in chest’ during his birthday party

A THREE-year-old boy has tragically died after he 'accidentally shot himself in the chest with a family member's gun' during his own birthday party.

The heartbreaking incident took place in Porter, Texas, on Saturday afternoon as the youngster's family was playing cards, cops said.

Family members 'heard a gunshot', cops said, before making the horrifying discovery.

Cops said the gun had apparently falled out of a family member's pocket.

The unnamed boy was rushed to the closest fire station, where he died of the wound.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of this tragic accident,” a press release shared on Facebook by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office read.

No further information was provided on how the family member dropped the firearm and if he or she acted irresponsibly.
