The mum-of-two was left with life-threatening injuries and spent six nights in the intensive care unit of St George’s Hospital.

Following surgery and several tests, the medical team explained to Rhiannon’s mum that her injuries were so severe that she had no chance of making a recovery.

“It was only the machines keeping her there,” according to a fundraising page set up for her family.

On October 22 Rhiannon passed away from her injuries.

The appeal on GoFundMe says that some of the young mother's friends witnessed the accident, that happened while she was on "a rare night out".

The motorist failed to stop at the scene and has since been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

“Rhiannon fought her hardest to survive this and as her family had to stay strong and protect her children from this terror," says the appeal.

It says that she died on October 22, the day after her daughter's third birthday.

"Rhiannon absolutely adored her family and was a wonderful mother to her girls," her loved one wrote on GoFundMe

"This incident has turned Rhiannon’s family upside down, they are in a living nightmare."

Detective Constable Jenny Burr, from the Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Our thoughts are first and foremost with Rhiannon's family and friends at this truly tragic time for them.
