MSNBC host Joe Scarborough has sparked outrage by claiming Donald Trump "would kill reporters if he could get away with it."

Trump stormed out of the interview on CBS after 37 minutes complaining that journalist Lesley Stahl was asking "tough questions."
On his show yesterday, Scarborough said the brash US leader "resembles an autocratic leader from eastern Europe".
Comparing Trump to the Russian President, he said: "Though he kills journalists, Vladimir Putin, on camera, actually seems a little more willing to answer tough questions when they are asked of him.
"Donald Trump can't even handle that."
He added: "Of course, Donald Trump would kill reporters if he could get away with it.
"I think even his strongest supporters would admit Trump would do whatever he could get away with."
His comments sparked fury among Trump supporters on Twitter with some branding them "absurd" and "ridiculous."
One wrote: "Such total c**p - why is he on the air? Oh yeah, propaganda."
Relations between the Morning Joe host and the president soured during the last election.
During the Republican primaries in 2015, the billionaire would frequently appear on the MSNBC show - however, when Trump became the frontrunner in the race Scarborough and co-host Mika Brzezinski began attacking his rhetoric.

His comments came after the dead woman's widower Timothy Klausutis sent a letter to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, begging him to take down Trump's debunked accusations about her death.
In response, Mika Brzezinski, who is married to Scarborough, called Trump a “cruel, sick, disgusting person."
This comes after CBS aired the full version of Trump’s fiery 60 Minutes interview with Lesley Stahl.
Footage of the dust-up shows the confused presenter saying “I’ve got a lot of questions” as the irritated president walks out of the room.
Meanwhile, Trump posted 37 minutes of footage from the chaotic interview on his Facebook page last Thursday - days before the show was due to go on air.
He wrote in the caption: “Look at the bias, hatred and rudeness on behalf of 60 Minutes and CBS."
The new CBS footage shows the moment the President storms off, as he tells one of the show's producers that "we have enough of an interview here".
Trump then gets up from his chair and walks past the cameras, as a confused Stahl says: “I’ve got a lot of questions I didn’t ask”.
At the beginning of the interview, Trump is immediately irritated when Stahl asks: “Are you ready for some tough questions?”
And as he prepared to walk off, the President brought this up directly.
He said: “Excuse me. Lesley you started with your first statement was are you ready for tough questions. That's no way to talk."
Trump also accused the media of giving Democratic nominee Joe Biden “softball” questions in his interviews.
He added: “I’ve seen his interviews, he’s never been asked a question that’s hard.”
During the interview, Trump was grilled on his remarks about Democratic Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and his exchanges with Dr Anthony Fauci - the nation's expert in infectious diseases.
He also defended his decision to hold large rallies during the coronavirus pandemic, and said his campaign had encouraged rally goers to wear face masks.
But Trump believed the show would be edited to "make him look bad."
A White House staff member told the Post that Trump "overreacted", adding: "The interview was not that bad. She just had a tone he didn’t like.”
Sunday's nights show also featured interviews with Joe Biden and his running mate, Kamala Harris.
