“But I am also a mother of three children, and parenthood affected me in a profound way in terms of how I think about these things,” the first daughter said.
“I am pro-life, and unapologetically so,” Ivanka said, for the first time.
The daughter of President Donald Trump has strayed away from announcing a clear stance on abortion issues in past years.
In January 2017, Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, reached out to meet with Cecile Richards, the then-president of Planned Parenthood.Ivanka and dad President Donald Trump are seen here at the White House in AprilCredit: AP:Associated Press

“The purpose of the meeting, from Cecile’s point of view, was to make sure that Ivanka fully understood what Planned Parenthood does, how it is funded, and why it would be a terrible idea for Planned Parenthood to be removed from being able to see Medicaid patients,” Dawn Laguens, executive vice president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said.
“The main thing that Cecile Richards was doing was explaining that the money doesn’t actually go to abortions — we get reimbursed the same way a hospital does. We were clearing up misinformation about how this works.”
Richards wrote in her 2018 memoir that Ivanka and Kushner offered to increase federal funding to the organization – if they stopped doing abortions.

Richards wrote that Kushner’s “main issue … was abortion.”
“If Planned Parenthood wanted to keep our federal funding, we would have to stop providing abortions,” she wrote.
“He described his ideal outcome: a national headline reading ‘Planned Parenthood Discontinues Abortion Services.’”
Richards claimed that Kushner told her to “move fast” on this and that it “felt almost like a bribe.”Ivanka has strayed away from announcing a clear stance on abortion issues in past yearsCredit: AP:Associated Press
In response to Ivanka’s comments this week, Richards tweeted: “And women are ‘unapologetically’ rejecting her father at the ballot box by the millions.”
“She sold out American women for political and financial gain - but money can’t buy you love. (John, Paul, George & Ringo) #womenarevoting,” Richards wrote.

Ivanka also told Real Clear Politics that she’s “a pragmatist when it comes to everything.”
The 39-year-old said she to both she and her dad, politics is about people rather than political parties.

“I think a lot of these labels, to be quite honest, are really limiting in terms of what you call yourself or how you identify,” she said of both Republicans and Democrats.
Trump revealed that he’s pro-life just before the 2016 election – after saying that for years, he was pro-choice.
