A ROYAL reporter today said vile Meghan Markle and Prince Harry trolls told her to drink herself to death and put her kids up for adoption.

Camilla Tominey, the Daily Telegraph’s Associate Editor, penned a piece in today’s paper in which she claims cruel keyboard warriors sent hate mail to her home after she wrote stories on the couple.

She bravely revealed she has been branded a “total c***” and verbally attacked by people on social media “supposedly defending the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s ‘truth’”.

Ms Tominey, who first broke the story that Harry was dating an American actor in 2016, opened up about the negative backlash she receives when covering stories on the royals.

She said: “Royal reporters like me now find themselves in the line of fire like never before”.

Ms Tominey said that even her friends are now being trolled on Instagram “by association”.

VILE TROLLS

But perhaps the most heartbreaking revelation in her candid first-person piece was the claim that some trolls urged her to “drink herself to death like her mother did”.

She wrote: “Having a hind thicker than a rhino’s, it wasn’t the repeated references to my being ‘a total c***’ that particularly bothered me, nor even the suggestion that I should have my three children put up for adoption.

“At one point someone even said it would be a good idea for me to drink myself to death like my mother, about whose chronic alcoholism I have written extensively.”

She touched on how much she has been “taken aback by the vitriol on social media” after the couple’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Harry and Meghan stunned the world when they accused the palace of racism after claiming a member of the family questioned how dark Archie’s skin would be.

Ms Tominey added that their fans, “so-called #SussexSquaders think nothing of branding all royal correspondents ‘white supremacists’ regardless of who they write for”.

She added: “Accusations of racism have long been levelled against anyone who has dared to write less than undiluted praise of Harry and Meghan.

“But even I have been taken aback by the vitriol on social media in the wake of the couple’s televised two-hour talk-a-thon, in which they branded both the Royal family and the British press racist while complaining about their ‘almost unsurvivable’ multimillionaire lives at the hands of the evil monarchy.

“And all while the rest of the UK were losing their loved ones and livelihoods in a global pandemic.”

She continued: “Having covered Brexit, general elections and stories about Islamic extremism, I’ve grown used to being sprayed with viral vomit on a fairly regular basis.

ONLINE ABUSE

“But when you’ve got complete strangers trolling your best friend’s Instagram feed by association? That’s Britney Spears levels of toxic.”

It comes after Harry hit out at social media as he blasted the "mothership of all the harassment" he and wife Meghan suffered.

The Duke of Sussex claimed platforms were responsible for a host of global problems, including the Capitol riots in Washington in January.

His comments followed reports that he and Meghan had quit social media after an "almost unsurvivable" experience of online trolling.

Meanwhile, Meghan has previously slammed social media as an addiction and obsession when she blasted online abuse.

Last October, the Duchess of Sussex likened those on social media to drug addicts during a 15-minute speech at an online conference costing a whopping $1,750 (£1,342) per ticket for guests to log on.
