Strictly Come Dancing’s Maisie Smith confesses HRVY ‘fooled her’ as she addresses rivalry

Strictly Come Dancing’s Maisie Smith has confessed that fellow contestant HRVY ‘fooled her’ when it came to his dancing skills.

The EastEnders actress joined Rylan Clark-Neal on today’s episode of It Takes Two, where she was pressed on her rivalry with the singer as the pair remain joint top of the leaderboard.

Maisie revealed HRVY remained coy over his ballroom skill until the BBC series got underway last month, and told Rylan: ‘When we first started he really made it out to be, “I’m not going to be any good”.’

‘He’s a liar! He’s a liar!’ Rylan quipped.

‘Yeah,’ Maisie agreed. ‘So yeah, there is a bit of rivalry there because he fooled me a little bit.’

‘He’s very cheeky, you know,’ Maisie’s dance partner Gorka Marquez added.

Maisie’s comments come just one day after HRVY was probed on a possible romance between the pair.

‘Maisie has been your closest rival so far, the two of you neck-and-neck up there,’ Zoe Ball pointed out on yesterday’s episode of It Takes Two.

‘It’s a fine line between love and hate, nudge nudge, wink wink, but is that a nice friendly rivalry?’

‘She’s great,’ HRVY responded cooly. ‘Genuinely, she’s very talented. I think it’s because we’re similar ages there’s a little rivalry, but she keeps me on my toes.’

Last month, it was reported that Strictly bosses are monitoring HRVY and Maisie to ensure they stick to the ‘kissing ban’.

According to claims, producers have warned the celebs that they must stick to their strict anti-Covid measures – including striking up a physical relationship with each other.

It Takes Two continues on Friday at 6.30pm on BBC Two.
