Things to do outdoors in London when the weather is bad

1 month ago 20

The weather may have taken a turn for the worse, but there are plenty of fun ways to enjoy yourself in the great outdoors in London.

And hey, even if it’s raining and windy, we’re still keen to make the most of being able to see our pals for outdoor meetings.

From outdoor events to scenic walks, there’s always something to do in the capital.

If you’re looking for your next rainy day activity, why not embrace the bad weather and head outside anyway?

Head to Borough Market

Make your way down to Borough Market, one of London’s oldest food markets, and savour everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to Indian street food and chocolate treats. Open six days a week.

Take a dip at London Fields Lido

Fancy a swim? Located in Hackney, London Fields Lido is a 50m Olympic-sized heated swimming pool that’s open year-round, whatever the weather.

Spot the pelicans in St James’ Park

Enjoy a stroll around St James’ Park and stop by the lake to say hello to its much-loved residents – Isla, Tiffany, Gargi, Sun, Moon and Star – who are sure to brighten up your day. If you head by between 2:30 and 3:00pm, you’ll see the daily pelican feeding.

Join a Shoreditch street art tour

Grab your umbrella and head to east London for a mesmerising walking tour of the famous street art throughout Shoreditch and Brick Lane. You’ll learn about the history and culture while getting some 10/10 Instagram snaps.

Walk The Line

Linking the O2 and Queen Elizabeth Park, The Line is London’s first dedicated art walk.

On the self-guided walk, you’ll discover a series of sculptures from artists such as Damien Hirst, Alex Chinneck, Gary Hume and Eduardo Paolozzi.

Set sail on a river cruise

Indulge in a river cruise and see London by boat. Whether it’s a lunch cruise down the Thames or a romantic evening cruise lit up by the bright lights of the city, a river cruise is great alternative to your standard walking tour.

Have your own meet-cute on a rom-com walking tour

Enter into the romantic world of Anna and Will and experience your own meet-cute on a swoon-worthy film location tour in Notting Hill. The guided tour from Brit Movie Tours includes 9 locations from the 1999 classic, as well as memorable locations from Christmas hit Love Actually.
