US election 2020: Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani claims ‘fraudulent’ mail ballots could be from ‘Mars or dead people’

4 weeks ago 2

DONALD Trump sent son Eric and personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani into Pennsylvania yesterday who claimed "fraudulent" mail-in ballots could be from "Mars or Canada".

Giuliani and the President's first son both claimed Trump has won the state, despite the counting of mail-in ballots has not stopped.

The Trump campaign has filed a lawsuit to intervene in a Pennsylvania case at the Supreme Court that deals with whether ballots received up to three days after the election can be counted.

Neither Trump nor Democratic rival Joe Biden have won the state of Pennsylvania, despite Republicans claiming they have.

There have been no reports of fraud or any type of ballot concerns out of Pennsylvania.

The state had 3.1million mail-in ballots that take time to count and an order allows them to be counted up until Friday if they are postmarked by November 3.

Neither Eric or Giuliani offered a legal argument for a win or proof of any voter fraud but claimed the Democratic party was cheating.

Giuliani said: "This is beyond anything I have ever seen before. Do you think we're stupid? Do you think we're fools?

"You know something, Democrats do think you're stupid.

"And they do think you're fools. That's why you get called 'deplorable' and 'chumps'.

"We're going to stick with this. We're going to win this election. We've actually won it. It's just a matter of counting the votes fairly."

Trump's personal lawyer then made the unsubstantiated claim that the mail-in ballots could have come from Mars or Canada.

He added: "We have no idea if there signed, postmarked properly, if it isn't the same person who submitted 100,000 ballots.

"This is the way they intend to win. We're not going to let them get away with it.

"This is one of the most undemocratic things I've ever seen or encountered."

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro said the lawsuit was 'more a political document than a legal document'.

Eric railed against the Democrats yesterday.

He said: "They're trying to cheat, they're trying to cheat."

Trump himself has also baselessly claimed that mail-in ballots would lead to widespread voter fraud – and been outspoken against tallying them after Election Day.

"We were getting ready to win this election - frankly we did win this election," Trump claimed.

"So our goal now is to ensure the integrity for the good of this nation. This is a very big moment. This is a major fraud on our nation."

Trump is ahead in Pennsylvania, but as more mail-in ballots are counted, that lead has been shrinking.

The President's campaign has filed a lawsuit in Pennsylvania to stop the count until there is "meaningful transparency".

Justin Clark, Trump's deputy campaign manager, said yesterday the campaign is "suing to stop Democrat election officials from hiding the ballot counting and processing from our Republican poll observers".

He said the campaign wants "to temporarily halt counting until there is meaningful transparency and Republicans can ensure all counting is done above board and by the law".

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro told CNN interview the lawsuit was "more a political document than a legal document".

He said: "There is transparency in this process. The counting has been going on. There are observers observing this counting, and the counting will continue."

Biden's increased lead in the Electoral College means that he could seal a victory in the bitterly contested presidential battle today.

This election has come down to the wire - after Trump defied pollsters again who predicted a Biden landslide.

It comes as violence erupted in Arizona as Trump supporters stormed a voting center, screaming "stop the steal".

Pictures and video showed armed MAGA supporters protesting the election results at the Maricopa County Elections Department office in Phoenix, Arizona on Wednesday night.

In Detroit, Michigan, Trump fans were filmed screaming "stop the vote" at a counting site on Wednesday, as they tried to keep ballots from being tallied.

The tense scene came shortly before CNN projected a victory for Joe Biden in Michigan, placing him closer to winning the presidency as the race goes down to the wire.

The Justice Department has told federal prosecutors that armed federal officers to ballot-counting locations to investigate potential voter fraud, the New York Times has reported.

The Trump campaign has filed lawsuits to stop vote-counting as well in Michigan, and Georgia to demand better access for Republican observers to locations where ballots are being counted.

Right now, the former vice president is 17 electoral votes short of an Oval Office victory.

Races in Georgia, with 16 electoral votes, and Arizona, with 11, are still too close to call as Biden came within one point of Trump in the traditionally red Peach State on Wednesday night.

But if those states' results are finalized on Thursday, Biden could claim victory and the race could be over.

AP has called the race in Arizona to Biden - despite mail-in ballots still being counted.

They called the race when 80 per cent of the vote was counted but concluded that after analyzing the ballots that there were not enough for Trump to catch up.

CNN also called the race for Biden on Wednesday, but after the latest round of counts came in showing the margin getting smaller in Trump's favor - the news network moved Arizona from Blue to White.
