Watch Dogs: Legion fails to hit number one in UK – Games charts 31 October

2 months ago 9

Despite being set in London the new Watch Dogs has failed to get to number one and has been beaten by FIFA 21 in its fourth week.

Any hopes that Ubisoft may have had that Watch Dogs: Legion would be extra popular in the UK, given its London setting, have been dashed as the game failed to make the number one spot and first week physical sales were down 54% on Watch Dogs 2.

Watch Dogs 2 was released four years ago now, during which time digital sales – which are not included in these charts – have drastically increased, so overall sales were probably at least similar to the last game. Even so, not beating FIFA 21, given it was released a month ago now, is still disappointing.

Also somewhat embarrassing is that Pikmin 3 sold more on Wii U than Switch during its debut, although not by much. Not only are digital sales generally increasing but they’ve seen an extra boost this year thanks to the pandemic, so it’s no surprise to see that physical sales of The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope dropped 47% drop on last year’s game, even though overall sales are likely to be the same or more.
