George Clooney is obviously a Hollywood A-lister, however, he's also a man who's arguably lucky enough to be married to a woman like Amal Clooney, who is "a respected international human-rights lawyer," according to Vanity Fair. They are also parents to twins, Ella and Alexander, who tend to be kept out of the spotlight. Amal talked to Vogue in 2018 about one of the ways she and her famous husband keep the cameras away from their children, saying, "We definitely do more things in our home to ensure privacy in a context where we can't otherwise get it."
Fortunately for the family, they have multiple homes where they can escape the spotlight. Considering the actor's success in both the entertainment industry and other lucrative business ventures — like the fact that he sold his tequila business in an estimated $1 billion transaction back in 2017 — it shouldn't be all that surprising to find out that George and Amal have multiple enviable abodes. "Together, the famously philanthropic pair are raising their family all around the world," according to Business Insider. The outlet also notes that the couple's "real-estate portfolio reflects their jet-set lifestyle and their high net worths."
So where exactly do George, Amal, and the little ones retreat from the big, wide world when they want to go home and just be a family together? Read on to find out about their fabulous residences!
George and Amal Clooney live in a $13 million English mansion

George and Amal Clooney tied the knot in 2014, and "just a few weeks" after saying "I do," the newlyweds bought Aberlash House, "a restored 17th-century mansion on the River Thames in London," according to Business Insider.
Architectural Digest notes that the $13 million home, which the famous couple renovated, "sits on a four-acre island [which is called Sonning Eye] in the middle of the River Thames," and boasts a terrace, a pool house, "manicured gardens," and "a glass-covered garden room filled with citrus trees as well as a rustic cottage." The parents also added "a ring of trees around estate island's perimeter" to ensure further privacy on the property.
Inside the home, the family can enjoy their very own cinema, a spacious kitchen, a sitting room, and "towering ceilings" as well as "crisp Georgian moulding" in the entry hall. Beyond that, there are touches that lend to the English mansion atmosphere, like herringbone hardwood floors as well as a wood-burning fireplace, which surely gives the home a cozy vibe.
George and Amal are apparently famous for having a "shared love for hosting infamous parties at their gorgeous English home," per Architectural Digest. However, that's not the only place where they invite their famous friends to stop by for a visit.
George Clooney also owns a villa in Italy
When the Obama family wanted to get away on a holiday in the summer of 2019, Insider notes that they spent their vacation in Lake Como, Italy, while staying at George Clooney's European home. According to The Local, the actor bought the house, which is known as Villa Oleandra, in 2002 as an "investment."
Although he originally thought he might "spend a few weeks each year" at the Italian abode, he apparently fell in love with the area. He explained, "[The purchase] changed my life in a very pleasant and unexpected way ... I realized how beautiful life was in Italy and how it really helped calm me and not feel so pressured." In fact, he's so ingrained in the local life, that "he was made an honorary citizen."
However, an issue cropped up for the star when his privacy was threatened around the villa. He apparently dealt with the issue by "install[ing] an egg-throwing machine in his garden, which hurled raw eggs at boats that got too close." That's certainly one way to deal with nosy neighbors or invasive paparazzi! We wonder if he has the same kind of contraption in his New York home.
And then there's George Clooney's 'luxury apartment' in New York

When George Clooney wants to head back to the United States, he can always crash in his home in New York. In 2016, the star "bought permanent digs ... at luxury apartment building One Hundred East Fifty Third Street," according to Page Six. The residence is apparently located near the United Nations, where the actor's wife, lawyer Amal Clooney, tends to appear for work when she's in town.
While the tower wasn't completed when the pair reportedly bought the home, the couple apparently purchased "a high-floor residence in [what was an] upcoming building." However, while you might assume that they'd buy the biggest and best apartment available, it turns out that they didn't opt for the penthouse, which was set to be two stories high and was being offered for a whopping $65 million.
While it's not clear how much the Clooneys paid for their apartment, the cheapest homes in the building were being sold for $2.6 million, while a 3,385-square-foot, three-bedrooms, and 3 ¹/₂-bathroom space on the 49th floor was listed for $14.75 million. The impressive residence boasts "direct elevator access" and a stunning gallery entranceway, as well as a great room that boasts ceilings that are almost 11-feet high, floor-to-ceiling windows, and "dramatic northern, western and eastern exposures." The master bedroom sits in a private corner of the home while also featuring "sweeping city views."
That certainly sounds worthy of a star like George Clooney!
