Who is Harlequin on The Masked Singer? All the clues you need to know

1 month ago 9

The Masked Singer UK has revealed four of its 12 contestants – but the clues keep on coming for the remaining eight, including the mysterious Harlequin.

Fans have been left absolutely baffled this series, as they try to figure out who’s behind the mask.

The panel – Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora and Mo Gilligan – are no different, with them all admitting it’s a real challenge.

So far, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Mel B, Martine McCutcheon and Glenn Hoddle have been unmasked but Harlequin’s identity still remains a mystery.

Here’s what we know so far…

What clues have been given about Harlequin?

We first met Harlequin when she performed Diamonds by Rihanna in week two.

Fans were also given some hints and clues about the famous face behind the mask, with the VT being seemingly being filmed at a palace, or at least a grand house.

She’s ‘a bit of a clown’. The thought of walking on stage is ‘terrifying’ to her and she has to be ‘pushed’. She’s been in the news a lot (she picked up a tabloid in the clue package). She once played a male lead in a musical.

During the fourth week of the competition, more clues were given about who Harlequin could be.

Once upon a time, Harlequin was ‘fascinated by stories and loved to read’. Not only that, but she enjoyed ‘tales of horror and gore’ in particular. Harlequin says her stories have been heard by many people around the world. What’s more, people also ‘told her stories in return’.

In the fifth week, Harlequin returned to perform Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car, in addition to sharing more clues about her identity.

Harlequin appears to love a tidy home, stating that they’re a strong believer in ‘happy home, happy mind’. They should a table full of trophies, implying they’re received a fair few accolades in their time. While they prefer to be at home than out partying, they love a festival.

So, who could Harlequin be?

Gabrielle

Some fans have guessed singer Gabrielle, insisting they can recognise the star’s distinctive voice.

However, it’s unclear about where the clues relating to royalty and the male lead in a musical would fit with her.

Kym Marsh

While many fans guessed Corrie star Kym was behind the mask, she recently denied the rumours.

‘Everyone asking if I am on masked singer. No sorry. Guess again guys xx’, she wrote.

Could she be double-bluffing?

Tracy Chapman

Rita guessed Tracy Chapman, thinking she recognised the Fast Car hitmaker’s iconic voice.

However, it might just be a shot in the dark for the panel on this one.

Beverley Knight

The clue about having to be ‘pushed’ on stage made Davina think it’s someone who hasn’t sung on stage for a while.

She has also had a career in musical theatre.

Beverley also has some references to royalty throughout her career. She released her song The Queen of Starting Over in 2007, and was awarded an MBE by Queen Elizabeth II.

Macy Gray

During the fourth week of the competition, Harlequin was saved by the panelists after delivering a touching performance of Nat King Cole’s Smile.

Her voice – and clues given by the contestant – have led some to believe it could be American singer Macy Gray behind the mask.

Harlequin teased that she has told stories throughout her career that have been ‘heard by people around the world’.

‘I can’t stop thinking Harlequin is Macy Gray,’ one fan stated on Twitter.

‘I was convinced that Harlequin is Gabrielle cos that voice is totally recognisable! But the clue package totally threw me off! Thinking it’s Macy Gray now??’ another said.

The Masked Singer returns tonight at 7pm on ITV.
